Data versions

Every published version of the climate and energy data C4B searches and projects are built on, and what each one changed.

  • The data behind your resultsThe climate and energy data searches and projects are built on.
  • Can change resultsA new data version can move the numbers of a project.
  • Regenerate for freeOutdated projects rebuild in place, using none of your allowance.

★ NEW — Window Shading Recommendations • A new design direction module for projects on paid plans. For each of eight facade orientations, it recommends the fixed shading device that saves the most energy compared with an unshaded window, and says what size to build it. • Five devices are compared on every facade: overhang, vertical fins, eggcrate, horizontal slats and vertical slats. A facade where no device saves at least 1% stays unshaded. • Each saving counts heating, cooling and lighting together, hour by hour over a full year, using the project’s own weather file and building type. • The results show: – a recommendation overview with each facade’s device and saving; – the share of direct sun each device blocks in the cooling season and lets in during the heating season; – an annual savings matrix with the size chosen for every device; – the savings by season and by month. • The room and every device are drawn with their dimensions, and labels never sit on a line or on other text. PDF report • The project report adds two pages from the weather-station data: the recommendation overview (with the inputs used, the weather file and the run date) and the annual savings matrix. Building types • “Multifamily (apartment)” is now called “Residential (multifamily)” wherever a building type is chosen, including the Preliminary Energy Analysis.

★ NEW — Summaries for Comfort Strategies and Geothermal Potential • Comfort Strategies for Outdoor Environments, its Designer version and Geothermal Potential now carry a short summary written by the platform for your specific site. • Existing projects receive them automatically. Comfort Strategies for Outdoor Environments • The summary names the measure that raises outdoor comfort the most (shading, wind shelter or both) and the share of comfortable daily hours it reaches in each season. • Where a measure would lower comfort, the text says why, following the site's climate. • South of the equator, December to February is now summer, in both the text and the chart. Geothermal Potential • The summary gives the annual outdoor temperature swing and the gradient to the ground at 10 m depth. • It rates the potential (no benefit, efficient or highly efficient) and recommends heating, cooling or both, according to the site's climate classification.

What's new ★ NEW — AI insights on every data type • Every data-type card now carries a short, plain-language reading of its own data, written for your specific site. • Cards whose text was written by the AI are marked with a star, so you always know which readings are AI-written and which come from the platform. • Insights can be regenerated for a project at any time. • All measurements are given in both metric and imperial. Climate Zone • The Köppen-Geiger classification now reads the same 0.25° dataset as the map on the card, so the zone and the map always agree. The older, coarser grid disagreed at coastal sites. • Weather files whose stated climate class contradicts their own temperature record are no longer used for the classification. • The heating and cooling classification now quotes the platform's own figure instead of a separate calculation, so the text and the card always match. • The classification is dated by the climate normals it comes from, and a change is only reported when the classification genuinely changed. Location & Climate Zone • The site's region is named alongside the country. • The elevation difference to the weather station now says whether the station sits above or below your site. • Sites at or below sea level are described correctly. Precipitation Event Intensity • The text states the rainfall record's real period, not a wider requested window. • Hourly figures appear only when they come from the same gauge as the daily record, with enough coverage to support them. Sun Path Diagrams • Day lengths use the standard sunrise and sunset definition. • The sun angle is described as the midday angle it actually measures. • Sites beyond the polar circle are described correctly. Country Grid Carbon Intensity • The carbon-intensity year and the generation-mix year are stated separately, so an older mix is never read as current. • Only the fuels that country actually burns are named. • Figures are described as shares of electricity generation rather than of energy. PV Energy: Aggregate Yearly Potential • The text now gives both the solar radiation received and the electricity produced at optimal tilt. Optimal PV Panel Orientation • The suggested orientation follows the site's measured radiation. • The effective orientation range is shown only when the data can support it. Across all data types • Every figure in an insight comes from that project's own data, and the text names the weather source it describes. • Upgrading a project to a new data version regenerates its data and all of its insights, AI and platform-written alike.

    Data v2.0.0

Pre-versioning baseline. Every search and project generated before data versioning existed is recorded at this version, so nothing reads as outdated until a newer version is published.

That's the first data version.
